The New Science of Psychedelics: At the Nexus of Culture, Consciousness, and Spirituality

Cytat:

One of the next things that I tried exploring in a lucid dream was what happens to consciousness after death. I reasoned that if I could (safely) commit suicide in a dream, then I may gain some insight into what actually happens to consciousness after death. So, after thinking about this possibility, the next time I found myself in a lucid dream, I remembered what I wanted to do. After confirming repeatedly that I was indeed dreaming - more so than usual - I conveniently found a handgun located in my right hand. I took the gun, pointed at the side of my head, and bravely pulled the trigger. After the bullet fired, the next thing I knew I was bodiless, in a dark silent void, alone with just my thoughts. It wasn't unpleasant, but it was certainly much less dramatic than what I was expecting.
